FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Welcome—this page brings together the most common questions I’m asked about Sunburst Coaching & Consulting. You’ll find straightforward answers about how coaching differs from therapy, what confidentiality looks like, the research base behind coaching, and what to expect from one-to-one sessions.
I also outline your role in the process—showing up with curiosity, taking ownership of your goals, and practicing new skills between sessions—so your momentum continues between calls. If you don’t see your question here, reach out or book a free discovery call. I’m happy to help you decide whether coaching is the right next step for you.

Clear answers on coaching vs. therapy, confidentiality, research support, 1:1 sessions, and your role in the coaching relationship.
Coaching is a structured, future-focused partnership that helps you clarify goals, build practical strategies, and stay accountable. We focus on behaviors, systems, and mindset shifts you can implement now—without diagnosing or treating medical or mental health conditions.
Coaching: future-focused, goal-oriented, performance and well-being at work/life; no diagnosis or clinical treatment.
Therapy: addresses mental health diagnoses, past trauma, and clinical symptoms; delivered by licensed clinicians. You can do both; if you’re in therapy, we’ll keep clear roles and boundaries.
We take your privacy seriously. Everything you share, including session content, intake forms, and notes, is kept private and won't be shared without your permission, except in rare legal circumstances (e.g., risk of harm). We use secure tools for scheduling, email, and storage, and retain your data only as long as needed to serve you.
A growing body of coaching-psychology research—including randomized trials and meta-analyses—shows coaching can improve goal attainment, well-being, resilience, and leadership behaviors. If you’d like, I can send a plain-language one-pager with key studies and links.
Your transformation is a collaboration. Expect to:
Set honest goals and measures of success
Try agreed-upon actions between sessions
Give feedback on what’s working (or not)
Own your results and celebrate your wins
In ~60 minutes, we’ll map your top stressors, identify 2–3 next steps you can use immediately, and decide together whether a Sunburst package fits your goals—no pressure or hard sell.
We offer several one-on-one coaching options: Radiance Reboot (3 weeks): A fast reset on one priority Radiance Rise (6 weeks): Build momentum on 2–3 goals with accountability Radiance Reset (12 weeks): Experience deeper transformation and create durable systems Each package includes live sessions, tools, and between-session support. I blend evidence-informed & evidence-based coaching methods with practical, real-world tools you can apply immediately. Common elements include:
Coaching psychology & positive psychology: strengths-based goal setting, resilience building, and measurable behavior change.
Motivational Interviewing & Appreciative Inquiry: collaborative conversations that surface what works, clarify values, and create momentum.
NLP-informed techniques (lightweight and practical): language and mindset shifts that reduce friction and support new habits.
Execution systems: time/energy audits, boundary scripts, weekly planning, and micro-experiments you can test between sessions.
Simple tracking: 2–4 clear metrics (e.g., protected focus blocks, on-time departures) reviewed briefly each meeting.
Optional supports by request: Reiki, mindfulness breathwork, or brief grounding practices to steady focus before high-stakes moments.
Everything is tailored to your role, schedule, and goals—no jargon, no one-size-fits-all playbooks. You keep ownership; I provide structure, tools, and accountability.
Not by default. Coaching is a collaborative process:
You own decisions and results. I help you clarify goals, weigh trade-offs, and choose actions that fit your values, role, and bandwidth.
I provide structure and options. Expect clear frameworks, A/B plans, and next steps you can test between sessions.
Want a strong recommendation? Ask—and I’ll give one with the reasoning and evidence behind it.
No clinical/legal advice. I don’t diagnose or treat; I keep us focused on performance, habits, and sustainable change.
You steer; I supply the map, instruments, and accountability.
We’ll define 2–4 concrete metrics at onboarding (e.g., “leave by 5:30 pm 3×/week,” “2 protected focus blocks,” “Sunday anxiety ↓ 50%”).
Baseline captured on day one
Mini check-ins each session (2–3 minutes)
Light homework (10–15 min/week) tied to metrics
30/60/90-day or other utilized timeline to do pulse checks to spot what’s working and what to adjust. You’ll get a simple tracker so wins are visible and sustainable.
Outcomes vary, but recent client themes include:
Defeating imposter syndrome
Reframing negative thoughts
Shifting from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset
Leaving work on time more days per week
Lower Sunday anxiety and better sleep
Clearer boundaries with less guilt
More consistent focus and follow-through
Renewed energy for family, creativity, and leadership
Defining your life's purpose
More passion for work and life
Results depend on your engagement between sessions; we’ll steer by data, not hype.
That’s common and often helpful. Coaching focuses on goals, habits, and performance; therapy/medicine address diagnosis, treatment, and clinical care. With your written permission, we can align high-level goals (no sensitive details) so your supports work in harmony.
